RTB: First series win for Tech
After an embarrassing 9-0 loss to Missouri on top of a ninth inning collapse Wednesday against New Mexico head coach Dan Spencer had enough.
Instead of the Red Raiders' postgame huddle -- win or lose -- Spencer told his team to head straight to the locker room and he would deal with them after fulfilling his media interview obligations. Most of the team's equipment remained in the dugout and all of the lights remained turned on. In the locker room Spencer gave a nice little speech to a team that had just clinched a losing record in Big 12 play.
"You'd have to censor it," Spencer told the media Sunday after Texas Tech's first Big 12 series win this season. "It was more of a gut check, pride check. 'We're better than that. You need to represent Texas Tech University better than that. You need to have a little pride in your work."
